Announcement for a New Day
Tuesday, June 18, 2009 15:16:17 AMNOTICE TO All OF OUR SAN DIEGO PATIENTS
We are reopening in San DiegoTwo years ago Medical Marijuana of San Diego temporarily relocated to the San Diego/Orange County Border because there were no Dispensaries or Co-ops available to supply Medical Marijuana to our patients in San Diego County, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors of San Diego refused to implement the Marijuana Laws, and the District Attorney served notice that all Dispensaries in San Diego were to close. All Medical Marijuana patients in San Diego were forced to travel to Orange or LA County to obtain Medical Marijuana legally at dispensaries and co-ops.
When United States Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the federal government would leave Medical Marijuana alone and only go after those breaking both Federal and State Laws, the climate in the world of Medical Marijuana suddenly changed. After the United States Supreme Court refused to hear the final appeal of San Diego County against implementing the State of California mandated Medical Marijuana Laws and Identification Card system, dispensaries started opening up all over San Diego; No longer was it necessary for our patients to travel to OC or LA for their medicine.
In order to better serve our many patients in San Diego County, we pleased to announce that we will be reopening our San Diego office as soon as suitable office space is located. Know of a good location? We are listening . . .captainhow@gmail.com
Dr. Bob Blake took over Medical Marijuana of San Diego (MMSD), Medical Marijuana of Orange County (MMOC) and Medical Marijuana of Los Angeles (MMLA) from Dr. Alfonso Jimenez on April 23, 2009. If you have a current recommendation issued by Dr. Jimenez, YOU ARE STILL COVERED for the full term of that certificate by Dr. Blake. He has all of your records is now supervising the Medical Marijuana Treatment plan provided to you by Dr. Jimenez.
You are entitled to a free replacement certificate. Although you must currently come to the Dana Point or Los Angeles office for our FREE certificate replacement service, you will soon be able to use our new San Diego office for replacements, renewals or new patient evaluations.
Should your medical marijuana recommendation be challenged by law enforcement, Dr. Blake will stand behind the letter of recommendation written by Dr. Jimenez whether or not you have obtained a replacement certificate. When he took over MMOC, MMSD and MMLA, Dr. Blake became the physician following the condition for which you received your medical marijuana recommendation. The staff at MMOC, MMSD and MMLA look forward to meeting you in the near future.
Thanks,
Bob Blake, M.D. and staff

Dr. Bob Blake evaluates patients who are suffering from chronic medical conditions and determines if they are eligible to receive a physician recommendation for the use of Medical Marijuana, as specified in California Health and Safety Code 11362.5, in strict accordance with the guidelines set forth by the California Medical Association and the California Medical Board. If the patient has a qualifying condition Dr. Blake will discuss the risks and benefits of Medical Marijuana with the patient and discuss alternative therapies as well. When appropriate, he will “recommend” or “approve” Medical Marijuana for patient use, develop a treatment plan and follow the patient at regular intervals for their qualifying condition.

He has an extensive background in the business of medicine. He was Vice President of St. Francis West for two years. He served as the chief of credentialing and was the former chief of medicine at St. Francis West. He attended medical school at Michigan State, interned at UCLA, and did his residency at University of Hawaii. He ran for Hawaii State Representative in District 42 in a recent election. He has a solo practice in Leeward Oahu where he employs a family practice nurse practitioner full time, and contracts board certified family practice physicians.
During the era of President Bush Administration it was well know fact that Medical Marijuana movement was a target.
During this time Dr. Jimenez found that it is important to see patients seeking a Medical Marijuana Recommendation (which allows one to use, possess and grow marijuana legally in states of California and Hawaii). His idea was to build "An Army of Medical Marijuana Supporters." He believed that every Medical Marijuana Recommendation he made recruited at least ten believers. Dr. Jimenez was able to achieve his goal and wrote 10,000 recommendations which converted to 100,000 supporters of Medical Marijuana movement. Today, under the President Obama administration, radical changes are happening in the Marijuana world. Dr. Jimenez is proud that he could help to contribute to those changes. Today Dr. Jimenez has decided to hang up his 'stirr-ups' and continue this battle at a political level. Currently, Dr. Jimenez has accepted a position as an Americans for Safe Access' Medical Advisor .We are happy to report that the clinic will continue, but now operated by Dr.Bob Blake, MD.
We would like to reassure you, that All Patients records are kept confidential. Our clinics comply with HIPAA-National standards to protect the Privacy of Personal Health Information (http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa/). It is the policy not to release personal or health information to anyone except to the patient. If medical records are requested, the Patient is required to come in person with a proper identification.

Raphael Mechoulam, Ph.D., is the Lionel Jacobson Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem first to identify and synthesize delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. This discovery in 1964 (with Dr. Yehiel Gaoni) opened the door to a whole new field of medical research that began exploring, not only the therapeutic potential of THC (marketed as Marinol in America), but other natural and synthetic cannabinoids as well, and offered exciting new insights into how the brain functions.

"If (marijuana) were unknown, and bio-prospectors were suddenly to find it in some remote mountain crevice, its discovery would no doubt be hailed as a medical breakthrough. Scientists would praise its potential for treating everything from pain to cancer, and marvel at its rich pharmacopoeia -- many of whose chemicals mimic vital molecules in the human body."
